Pathways to Success: Lisa Stewart, OTR/L, Regional Director of Clinical Services

Restore Therapy offers our clinicians Pathways to Success through Leadership and Mentorship Development. 

Lisa Stewart, OTR/L,  Regional Director of Clinical Services for Restore Therapy and an Emerging Leader for ADVION 2023, is certified in Mental Health First Aid through National Council for Mental Health and a PAC Certified Independent Coach and Trainer. 

Lisa uses her trainer certification to increase awareness for care partners, including facility and therapy staff, students, and the community in Teepa Snow’s dementia education and skills.

Her coaching certification supports care partners in real-time through use of hands-on-skills for persons living with dementia.

Lisa recently received her Mental Health First Aid certification.  Occupational Therapy addresses mental and behavioral health in non-psychiatric settings, such as the SNF.  With her certification, we are able to:

• Enhance participation in occupation to avoid occupational deprivation
• Establish social and physical environments that boost social connections
• Address behavioral challenges and agitations through occupation-based and sensory-based environments

This service is not always captured by OTs and should definitely be considered for the health and well-being of our clients.  “I wanted to extend my ability to offer support to the field in assessing, treating and providing for a safe discharge for clients that have mental and behavioral health issues compounding their physical health challenges.  I hope in the near future to work with our EMR provider for inclusion of more options for goals related to this very relevant client-centered aspect of the care we provide.”
